U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that an American submarine sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean using a torpedo.

Earlier, Sri Lankan authorities reported that the Iranian Navy frigate IRIS Dena had gone down in the Indian Ocean. Local officials said rescue operations were underway after the vessel issued a distress call.
Initial reports indicated that around 140 personnel were believed to have been on board at the time of the sinking, with several listed as missing. Sri Lankan naval and air force units were involved in search and rescue efforts.
