Poland Deploys 20,000 Police Officers to Schools Following Rash of Youth Stabbing Attacks
Polish authorities launched a nationwide security operation on Monday, dispatching more than 20,000 police officers to secure schools following three separate stabbing incidents involving youths, prompting Prime Minister Donald Tusk to pledge decisive action against rising juvenile violence.
Police officials confirmed that law enforcement teams have already inspected 80,000 educational institutions and taken 135 individuals into custody since Friday as part of the sweeping safety measures.
Officials have ruled out speculation linking the violent episodes to coordinated groups or viral online challenges. Speaking during an emergency crisis meeting on Sunday, Tusk warned that digital platforms glorifying brutal behavior are having a destructive influence on younger demographics. The Prime Minister noted that authorities have identified a growing fascination with violence both domestically and globally, describing it as a grim trend fueled heavily by violent computer games and internet subcultures that promote Nazi ideology alongside a cult of strength.
Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski underscored the government's zero-tolerance stance during an appearance on state broadcaster TVP Info late Sunday, stating that the extensive police mobilization across schools was intended to make it unequivocally clear that Poland will not tolerate violence directed at children or the descent of public life into lawlessness.
