Mohammed Shami Becomes Fastest to 200 ODI Wickets, Surpassing Mitchell Starc

In a historic performance at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has set a new world record by becoming the fastest bowler to claim 200 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Shami achieved this milestone during India's opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Bangladesh, reaching the landmark in just 104 matches and delivering 5,126 balls. This surpasses the previous record held by Australia's Mitchell Starc, who reached 200 wickets in 102 matches but required 5,240 deliveries.

Match Highlights: Shami's Record-Breaking Performance

Bangladesh elected to bat first after winning the toss. Shami made an immediate impact, dismissing opener Soumya Sarkar in the very first over. He continued his assault by removing Mehidy Hasan Miraz shortly thereafter, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 35/5. A resilient partnership between Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy offered some resistance, but Shami returned to break the stand by claiming Ali's wicket, thereby securing his 200th ODI scalp.
