Man, 23, Fatally Stabbed in South-East London on New Year’s Eve
A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed on New Year’s Eve in Deptford, south-east London. Police launch murder investigation; no arrests yet.
A 23-year-old man has been fatally stabbed in a New Year’s Eve attack in south-east London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Officers were called to Grove Street, Deptford, at around 12:30 GMT, where the man was found with a knife wound to the chest. Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he sadly died shortly afterwards, the Met Police confirmed.
No arrests have been made, and a crime scene has been established while detectives work to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend expressed the force’s condolences, stating: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.” He added that extra patrols are being deployed in the area to reassure the public, and that the investigation remains the “highest priority” for officers.
The Met Police urged anyone with information about the attack to come forward and assist the investigation.
