The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-western provinces, as well as the Monaragala and Mannar districts.

Amber alerts have been issued for 12 districts, effective from 13th March. The department warns that the heat index—the temperature as felt on the human body—may rise to a “Caution” level in some areas.

The public is advised to take precautions, as prolonged exposure and activity in the heat could lead to fatigue. Continuing physical activity under these conditions may result in heat cramps. Citizens are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak hours, and monitor for signs of heat-related illness.
