Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa Returns to Sri Lanka After Filing Anticipatory Bail
Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has returned to Sri Lanka following a visit to Singapore for medical care.
Her arrival coincided with the submission of an anticipatory bail application at the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court, aimed at preventing her potential arrest upon touching down in the country.
Rajapaksa departed for Singapore on September 16 shortly after receiving care at a private hospital in Colombo.
The legal action follows an active probe by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division into financial dealings tied to the Siriliya Saviya foundation, an entity that operated under her direction. Investigators from the FCID have formally requested a statement from her as part of their ongoing inquiries.
