Nawagamuwa Shooting: 26-Year-Old Victim Succumbs to Injuries in Hospital
A 26-year-old youth who sustained critical gunshot wounds during a shooting incident in the Wanduramulla area under the Nawagamuwa police division yesterday evening (16) has tragically died today (17) while undergoing medical care. He was admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital for emergency treatment, but succumbed to his injuries despite doctors' efforts.
According to police sources, the deceased was a young man aged 26. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the attackers used a pistol-type firearm to carry out the assault.
Authorities have confirmed that no suspects have been apprehended or formally identified in connection with the crime so far. In response, the Nawagamuwa police have initiated a full-scale special investigation, deploying dedicated teams to trace those responsible. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, collecting forensic evidence from the crime scene, and recording statements from local residents and potential witnesses. Police have assured that operations are underway to arrest the perpetrators at the earliest possible time.
