Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organizer and MP Namal Rajapaksa emphasized the importance of moving forward by learning from past mistakes, while also safeguarding cultural values and empowering the younger generation.

He made these remarks after taking part in Sinhala and Tamil New Year rituals at Carlton House in Tangalle.

Extending his New Year greetings, Namal noted that the Sinhala and Tamil New Year represents a shared cultural heritage that should be preserved and passed on to future generations.

He acknowledged that the country is currently going through a difficult period but expressed confidence that challenges can be overcome through unity and a positive mindset.

Highlighting the importance of reflection, he stated that mistakes are part of any journey and should be understood and corrected. He added that society must recognize past shortcomings while continuing to uphold cultural traditions.

Namal also underlined the need to guide and support young people, pointing out growing concerns about declining trust in the youth. He stressed that isolated incidents from the past should not define an entire generation.

He concluded by saying that Sri Lanka’s future depends on empowering its youth, utilizing their talents, and strengthening unity to build a more stable and prosperous nation.
