Weather Forecast: Enhanced Showers and Heavy Rainfall Likely
The Meteorology Department has issued a forecast indicating that showery weather over the island is expected to be enhanced for the next few days starting from today (15).

The current weather pattern is being influenced by the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which is the region where winds from the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere converge, as well as atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of the island.
Showers or thundershowers are predicted to occur at most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m.
Furthermore, heavy rainfall above 100 mm are likely at some places. The areas primarily expecting this very heavy rain include Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-western provinces, along with the Ampara District.
The Met. Department also noted that showers may occur in Western, Southern and Northern provinces in the morning too.
Other Conditions and Public Advisory
During the early hours of the morning, misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
