The Meteorology Department warns that showery conditions are expected to persist over Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka under the influence of the Easterly wave during the next few days.
Showers will occur at times in Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, with heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm possible in parts of Eastern and Central provinces, including Badulla and Polonnaruwa districts. Other areas may experience showers or thundershowers after 1 p.m., with localized heavy rainfall above 75 mm.
Strong winds of 40–50 km/h are expected over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, and in Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts. Mist is likely in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts during early morning hours.
The public is advised to take precautions against lightning and temporary localized strong winds.
