Several Spells of Showers Expected Today, Public Urged to Take Precautions
The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers and thundershowers across various parts of the island today.

April 12 – Colombo: The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers and thundershowers across various parts of the island today.
Showers or thundershowers are expected to develop during the afternoon or night in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts. Additionally, intermittent showers are likely in the Western and Southern provinces throughout the day.
The Met. Department also cautioned that fairly strong winds, ranging between 30-40 kmph, could be experienced at times, especially over the western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka from April 5th to 14th. On April 12th, the sun will be directly above the areas of Adiyakulam, Veppankulam, Padawiya, and Kuchchaveli at approximately 12:11 p.m.
The Department of Meteorology continues to monitor the situation and will issue updates as necessary.
