With the diesel price increased by Rs.60/- per liter, private bus operators are demanding an increase of around 35%- 40% in bus fares. They also suggest increasing the minimum fare from Rs. 32/- to Rs. 40/-

With fuel price revision with effect from 2:00 am on Sunday (26), fares of several services and prices of products are also to be increased in line with the fuel price hike.

With the diesel price increased by Rs.60/- per liter, private bus operators are demanding an increase of around 35%- 40% in bus fares. They also suggest increasing the minimum fare from Rs. 32/- to Rs. 40/-

President of the All Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association said that due to the fuel price revision, bus fares should be increased by 15% and another 20% should be increased in line with the annual bus fare revision which falls on the 1st of July.

All Ceylon Three Wheel Drivers’ Union said that they do not intend to increase the minimum three-wheeler fare of Rs. 100/-. However, they said that they will be increasing the charge for the second kilometer onwards to Rs. 90/- per kilometer.

Meanwhile, President of the All Island Canteen Owners’ Association Asela Sampath said that prices of all food items including lunch packets, Kottu, and short eats will be increased by 10%.
