Fairly Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Provinces Today

Colombo, April 16 — The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory indicating showers or thundershowers in multiple parts of the island, particularly during the afternoon or night.
Rainfall is expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-Western, Uva, and North-Central provinces, with morning showers also likely in the Western Province as well as Galle, Matara, Puttalam, and Mannar districts.
The department has warned of fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm in certain areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Uva provinces.
The public is urged to take adequate precautions to reduce risks posed by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
Additionally, misty conditions are expected during the morning in parts of Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, and in the Polonnaruwa district.
