Ajay Devgn Rubbishes Talk of Bollywood Slump, Says ‘Same Situation Worldwide’

MUMBAI, April 8 — Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has dismissed concerns about the Hindi film industry’s performance at the box office, asserting that declining theatre footfalls are a global trend, not limited to Bollywood. The actor was speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film Raid 2, co-starring Riteish Deshmukh, on Tuesday.

When asked whether high ticket prices were contributing to reduced theatre occupancy, Devgn said the audience today is more selective, choosing content that genuinely appeals to them. He emphasized the role of film promotions in drawing viewers and noted that box office struggles are not exclusive to Bollywood.

“This is the case with films all over the world,” Devgn stated. “Some films are not working, and some are really working. Whether it's Bollywood, Hollywood, or the South industry — the situation is the same everywhere.”

Raid 2, the sequel to Devgn’s 2018 hit Raid, is set to hit theatres later this year.
